Hand Built Pottery – Sgraffito & more, Fri, 7-9PM, Oct 18–Dec 13

$285.00

Instructor: Nida S. Davis

Fridays, 7 - 9 PM, October 18 - December 13, 2024, (8 classes), No Class Nov, 22, $285 plus $40 materials fee (paid separately)

Beginning to intermediate pottery hand-building students will learn basic skills to make everyday household items like plates, dishes, vases and more as they apply simple artistic designs using sgraffito and underglaze techniques. Sgraffito is a decorative technique that involves cutting away parts of a surface layer of the clay to reveal a different colored ground. You do not need to have any artistic experience, and we will use simple tracing techniques and apply basic drawings to create our designs.

This class combines hand-built pottery, artistic design, and color mindfulness through pottery. By registering you agree to our pottery studio rules.

Recommend buying the following items for class:
Wire Loop Sgraffito ($6 on Amazon)
White Taklon Glaze Wash and Round 4-Piece Brush Set ($9 on Amazon)

All first-time students must also pay a separate $40 materials fee to cover the cost of clay, glazes, and firing. Any returning or repeat students may use up clay from a previous class before paying a new materials fee.

All students must present a copy of the receipt to the instructor in order to receive clay.
